亞伯蘭與羅得分離
5.與亞伯蘭同行的羅得也有牛群、羊群、帳棚。
Now Lot, who was moving about with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents.
6.那地容不下他們；因為他們的財物甚多，使他們不能同居。
But the land could not support them while they stayed together, for their possessions were so great that they were not able to stay together.
7.當時，迦南人與比利洗人在那地居住。亞伯蘭的牧人和羅得的牧人相爭。
And quarreling arose between Abram’s herders and Lot’s. The Canaanites and Perizzites were also living in the land at that time.
8.亞伯蘭就對羅得說：「你我不可相爭，你的牧人和我的牧人也不可相爭，因為我們是骨肉【原文作弟兄】。
So Abram said to Lot, 「Let’s not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herders and mine, for we are close relatives.
9.遍地不都在你眼前嗎？請你離開我：你向左，我就向右；你向右，我就向左。」
Is not the whole land before you? Let’s part company. If you go to the left, I’ll go to the right; if you go to right, I’ll go to the left.」
10.羅得舉目看見約旦河的全平原，直到瑣珥，都是滋潤的，那地在耶和華未滅所多瑪、蛾摩拉以先知如同耶和華的園子，也向埃及地。
Lot looked around and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan toward Zoar was well watered, like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt. (This was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)
11.於是羅得選擇約旦河的全平原，往東遷移；他們就彼此分離了。
So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. The two men parted company:
12.亞伯蘭住在迦南地，羅得住在平原的城邑，漸漸挪移帳棚，直到所多瑪。
Abram lived in the land of Canaan, while Lot lived among the cities of the plain and pitched his tents near Sodom.
13.所多瑪人在耶和華面前罪大惡極。
Now the people of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the LORD.
14.羅得離別亞伯蘭以後，耶和華對亞伯蘭說：「從你所在的地方，你舉目向東、西、南、北觀看；
The LORD said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, 「Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west.
15.凡你所看到的一切地，我都要賜給你，和你的後裔，直到永遠。
All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring[a] forever.

I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted.
17.你起來，縱橫走遍這地，因為我必把這地賜給你。」
Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you.」
18.亞伯蘭就搬了帳棚，來到希伯崙幔利的橡樹那裏居住，在那裏為耶和華築了一座壇。
So Abram went to live near the great trees of Mamre at Hebron, where he pitched his tents. There he built an altar to the LORD. |
