The Spring Festival, which marks the beginning of the Chinese Lunar New Year, is the most important and joyful festival in China. As it approaches, nearly everyone comes back home no matter where they are to celebrate the New Year with their families. They always prepare lots of delicious foods, most of which, unfortunately, are left to go bad as so much food cannot be consumed in such a short time. Parents give their children lots of money on the eve of the Spring Festival as traditional Lunar New Year gifts, and people give valuable presents to their relatives in a spirit of love and generosity. As a result, although people generally enjoy themselves during the Spring Festival, they spend too much money, which should be used for daily necessities in their everyday life.
With inflation constantly on the rise, it would be very wasteful to squander money away during the brief holiday period and lead an austere life the rest of the year. Therefore, the best way to celebrate holidays, it seems, is to share the festivity with our families without excessive spending and only seek out the joy and fun of it.
