亞伯拉罕為所多瑪祈求
22.二人轉身離開那裏，向所多瑪去；但亞伯拉罕仍舊站在耶和華面前。
The men turned away and went toward Sodom, but Abraham remained standing before the LORD.[d]

23.亞伯拉罕近前來，說：「無論善惡，你都要剿滅嗎？
Then Abraham approached him and said: 「Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked?
24.假若那城裏有五十個義人，你還剿滅那地方嗎？不為城裏這五十個義人饒恕其中的人嗎？
What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare[e] the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it?

25.將義人與惡人同殺，將義人與惡人一樣看待，這斷不是你所行的。審判全地的主豈不行公義嗎？」
Far be if from you to so such a thing－to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?」
26.耶和華說：「我若在所多瑪城裏見有五十個義人，我就為他們緣故饒恕那地方的眾人。」
The LORD said, 「If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake.」
27.亞伯拉罕說：「我雖然是灰塵，還敢對主說話。
Then Abraham spoke up again: 「Now that I have been so hold as to speak to the Lord, though I am nothing but dust and ashes,
28.假若這五十個義人短了五個，你就因為短了五個毀滅全城嗎？」他說：「我在那裏若見有四十五個，也不毀滅那城。」
what if the number of the righteous is five less than fifty? Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five people?」 「If I find forty-five there,」 he said, 「I will not destroy it.」
29.亞伯拉罕又對他說：「假若在那裏見有四十個怎麼樣呢？」他說：「為這四十個的緣故，我也不做這事。」
Once again he spoke to him, 「What if only forty are found there?」 He said, 「For the sake of forty, I will not do it.」
30.亞伯拉罕說：「求主不要動怒，容我說，在那裡見有三十個怎麼樣呢？」他說：「我在那裏若見三十個，我也不做這事。」
Then he said, 「May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak. What if only thirty can be found there?」 He answered, 「I will not do it if I find thirty there.」
31.亞伯拉罕說：「我還敢對主說話，假若在那裏見有二十個怎麼樣呢？」他說：「為這二十個的緣故，我也不毀滅那城。」
Abraham said, 「Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, what if only twenty can be found there?」 He said, 「For the sake of twenty, I will not destroy it.」
32.亞伯拉罕說：「求主不要動怒，我再說這一次，假若在那裏見有十個呢？」他說：「為這十個的緣故，我也不毀滅那城。」
Then he said, 「May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?」 He answered, 「For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it.」
33.耶和華與亞伯拉罕說完了話就走了；亞伯拉罕也回到自己的地方去了。
When the LORD had finished speaking with Abraham, he left, and Abraham returned home.
第十九章 Genesis 19
Sodom and Gomorrah Destroyed
1.那兩個天使晚上到了所多瑪；羅得正坐在所多瑪城門口，看見他們，就起來迎接，臉伏於地下拜，
The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of the city. When he saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground.
2.說：「我主啊，請你們到僕人家裏洗洗腳，住一夜，清早起來再走。」他們說：「不！我們要在街上過夜。」
「My lords,」 he said, 「please turn aside to your servant’s house. You can wash your feet and spend the night and then go on your way early in the morning.」 「No,」 they answered, 「we will spend the night in the square.」
3.羅得切切地請他們，他們這才進去，到他屋裏。羅得為他們預備筵席，烤無酵餅，他們就吃了。
But he insisted so strongly that they did go with him and entered his house. He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and they ate.
4.他們還沒有躺下，所多瑪城裏各處的人，連老帶少，都來圍住那房子，
Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom－born young and old－surrounded the house.
5.呼叫羅得說：「今日晚上到你這裏來的人在哪裏呢？把他們帶出來，任我們所為。」
They called to Lot, 「Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.」
6.羅得出來，把門關上，到眾人那裏，
Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him
7.說：「眾弟兄，請你們不要做這惡事。
and said, 「No, my friends. Don’t do this wicked thing.
8.我有兩個女兒，還是處女，容我領出來，任憑你們的心願而行；只是這兩個人既然到我舍下，不要向他們做甚麼。」
Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don’t do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof.」
9.眾人說：「退去吧！」又說：「這個人來寄居，還想要作官哪！現在我們要害你比害他們更甚。」眾人就向前擁擠羅得，要攻破房門。
「Get out of our way,」 they replied. 「This fellow came here as a foreigner, and now he wants to play the judge! We’ll treat you worse than them.」 They kept bringing pressure on Lot and moved forward to break down the door. |
