毀滅所多瑪蛾摩拉
23.羅得到了瑣珥，日頭已經出來了。
By the time Lot reached Zoar, the sun had risen over the land.
24.當時，耶和華將硫磺與火從天上耶和華那裏降與所多瑪和蛾摩拉，
Then the LORD rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah－from the LORD out of the heavens.
25.把那些城和全平原，並城裏所有的居民，連地上生長的，都毀滅了。
Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, destroying all those living in the cities－and also the vegetation in the land.
26.羅得的妻子在後邊回頭一看，就變成了一根鹽住。
But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.
27.亞伯拉罕清早起來，到了他從前站在耶和華面前的地方。
Early the next morning Abraham got up and returned to the place where he had stood before the LORD.
28.向所多瑪和蛾摩拉與平原的全地觀看，不料，那地方煙氣上騰，如同燒窰一般。
He looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah, toward all the land of the plain, and he saw dense smoke rising from the land, like smoke from a furnace.
29.當 神毀滅平原諸城的時候，他記念亞伯拉罕，正在傾覆羅得所住之城的時候，就打發羅得從傾覆之中出來。
So when God destroyed the cities of the plain, he remembered Abraham, and he brought Lot out of the catastrophe that overthrew the cities where Lot had lived.
Lot and His Daughters
30.羅得因為怕住在瑣珥，就同他兩個女兒從瑣珥上去，住在山裏；他和兩個女兒住在一個洞裏。
Lot and his two daughters left Zoar and settled in the mountains, for he was afraid to stay in Zoar. He and his two daughters lived in a cave.
31.大女兒對小女兒說：「我們的父親老了，地上又無人按著世上的常規進到我們這裏。
One day the order daughter said to the younger, 「Our father is old, and there is no man around here to give us children－as is the custom all over the earth.
32.來！我們可以叫父親喝酒，與他同寢。這樣，我們好從他存留後裔。」
Let’s get our father to drink wine and then sleep with him and preserve our family line through our father.」
33.於是，那夜她們叫父親喝酒，大女兒就進去和她父親同寢；她幾時躺下，幾時起來，父親都不知道。
That night they got their father to drink wine, and the older daughter went in and slept with him. He was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up.
34.第二天，大女兒對小女兒說：「我昨夜與父親同寢。今夜我們再叫他喝酒，你可以進去與他同寢。這樣，我們好從父親存留後裔。」
The next day the older daughter said to the younger, 「Last night I slept with my father. Let’s get him to drink wine again tonight, and you go in and sleep with him so we can preserve our family line through our father.」
35.於是，那夜她們又叫父親喝酒，小女兒起來與他父親同寢；她幾時躺下，幾時起來，父親都不知道。
So they got their father to drink wine that night also, and the younger daughter went in and slept with him. Again he was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up.
36.這樣，羅得的兩個女兒都從他父親懷了孕。
So both of Lot’s daughters became pregnant by their father.
37.大女兒生了兒子，給他起名叫摩押，就是現今摩押人的始祖。
The older daughter had a son, and she named him Moab[g]; he is the father of the Moabites of today.

第二十章 Genesis 20
Abraham and Abimelek
1.亞伯拉罕從那裏向南地遷去，寄居在加低斯和書珥中間的基拉耳。
Now Abraham moved on from there into the region of the Negev and lived between Kadesh and Shur. For a while he stayed in Gerar,
2.亞伯拉罕稱他的撒拉為妹子，基拉耳王亞比米勒差人把撒拉取了去。
and there Abraham said of his wife Sarah, 「She is my sister.」 Then Abimelek king of Gerar sent for Sarah and took her.
3.但夜間 神來在夢中對亞比米勒說：「你是個死人哪！因為你取了那個女人來；她原是別人的妻子。」
But God came to Abimelek in a dream one night and said to him, 「You are as good as dead because of the woman you have taken; she is a married woman.」
4.亞比米勒卻還沒有親近撒拉；他說：「主啊，連有義的國，你也要毀滅嗎？
Now Abimelek had not gone near her, so he said, 「Lord, will you destroy an innocent nation?
5.那人豈不是自己對我說：『她是我的妹子』嗎？就是女人也自己說：『他是我的哥哥。』我做這事是心正手潔的。」
Did he not say to me, 『She is my sister,』 and didn’t she also say, 『He is my brother』? I have done this with a clear conscience and clean hands.」
6. 神在夢中對他說：「我知道你做這事是心中正直；我也攔阻了你，免得你得罪我，所以我不容你沾著她。
Then God said to him in the dream, 「Yes, I know you did this with a clear conscience, and so I have kept you from sinning against me. That is why I did not let you touch her.
7.現在你把這人的妻子歸還他；因為他是先知，他要為你禱告，使你存活。你若不歸還他，你當知道，你和你所有的人都必要死。」
Now return the man’s wife, for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you will live. But if you do not return her, you may be sure that you and all who belong to you will die.」 |
