The Death of Abraham
第二十五章 Genesis 25
1.亞伯拉罕又娶了一妻，名叫基土拉。
Abraham had taken another wife, whose name was Keturah.
2.基土拉給他生了心蘭、約珊、米但、米甸、伊施巴，和書亞。
She bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah.
3.約珊生了示巴和底但。底但的子孫是亞書利族、利都是族，和利烏米族。
Jokshan was the father of Sheba and Dedan; the descendants of Dedan were the Ashurites, the Letushites and the Leummites.
4.米甸的兒子是以法、以弗、哈諾、亞比大，和以勒大。這都是基土拉的子孫。
The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanok, Abida and Eldaah. All these were descendants of Keturah.
5.亞伯拉罕將一切所有的都給了以撒。
Abraham left everything he owned to Isaac.
6.亞伯拉罕把財務分給他庶出的眾子，趁著自己還在世的時候打發他們離開他的兒子以撒，往東方去。
But while he was still living, he gave gifts to the sons of his concubines and sent them away from his son Isaac to the land of the east.
亞伯拉罕壽終
7.亞伯拉罕一生的年日是一百七十五歲。
Abraham lived a hundred and seventy-five years.
8.亞伯拉罕壽高年邁，氣絕而死，歸到他列祖【原文作本民】那裏。
Then Abraham breathed his last and died at a good old age, an old man and full of years; and he was gathered to his people.
9.他兩個兒子以撒、以實瑪利把他埋葬在麥比拉洞裏。這洞在幔利前、赫人瑣轄兒子以弗崙的田中，
His sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah near Mamre, in the field of Ephron son of Zohar the Hittite,
10.就是亞伯拉罕向赫人買的那塊田。亞伯拉罕和他妻子撒拉都葬在那裏。
the field Abraham had bought from the Hittites.[a] There Abraham was buried with his wife Sarah.

After Abraham’s death, God blessed his son Isaac, who then lived near Beer Lahai Roi.
以實瑪利之後裔
Ishmael’s Sons
12.撒拉的使女夏甲給亞伯拉罕所生的兒子是以實瑪利。
This is the account of the family line of Abraham’s son Ishmael, whom Sarah’s slave, Hagar the Egyptian, bore to Abraham.
13.以實瑪利兒子們的名字，按著他們的家譜記在下面。以實瑪利的長子是尼拜約，又有基達、亞德別、米比衫、
These are the names of the sons of Ishmael, listed in the order of their birth: Nebaioth the firstborn of Ishmael, Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,
14.米施瑪、度瑪、瑪撒、
Mishma, Dumah, Massa,
15.哈大、提瑪、伊突、拿非施、基底瑪。
Hadad, Tema, Jetur, Naphish and Kedemah.
16.這是以實瑪利眾子的名字，照著他們的村莊、營寨，作了十二族的族長。
These were the sons of Ishmael, and these are the names of the twelve tribal rulers according to their settlements and camps.
17.以實瑪利享壽一百三十七歲，氣絕而死，歸到他列組【原文作本民】那裏。
Ishmael lived a hundred and thirty-seven years. He breathed his last and died, and he was gathered to his people.
18.他子孫的住處在他眾弟兄東邊，從哈腓拉直到埃及前的書珥，正在亞述的道上。
His descendants settled in the area from Havilah to Shur, near the eastern border of Egypt, as you go toward Ashur. And they lived in hostility toward[b] all the tribes related to them.

Jacob and Esau
19.亞伯拉罕的兒子以撒的後代記在下面。亞伯拉罕生以撒。
This is the account of the family line of Abraham’s son Isaac. Abraham became the father of Isaac,
20.以撒娶利百加為妻的時候正四十歲。利百加是巴旦．亞蘭地的亞蘭人彼土利的女兒，是亞蘭人拉班的妹子。
and Isaac was forty years old when he married Rebekah daughter of Bethuel the Aramean from Paddan Aram[c] and sister of Laban the Aramean.

21.以撒因他妻子不生育，就為她祈求耶和華；耶和華應允他的祈求，他的妻子利百加就懷了孕。
Isaac prayed to the LORD on behalf of his wife, because she was childless. The LORD answered his prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant.
22.孩子們在她腹中彼此相爭，她就說：「若是這樣，我為甚麼活著呢【或譯：我為甚麼如此呢】？」她就去求問耶和華。
The babies jostled each other within her, and she said, 「Why is this happening to me?」 So she went to inquire of the LORD.
23.耶和華對她說：「兩國在你腹內；兩族要從你身上出來。這族必強於那族；將來大的要服事小的。」
The LORD said to her, 「Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you will be separated; one people will be stronger than the other, and the order will serve the younger.」
24.生產的日子到了，腹中果然是雙子。
When the time came for her to give birth, there were twin boys in her womb.
25.先產的身體發紅，渾身有毛，如同皮衣，他們就給他起名叫以掃【就是有毛的意思】。
The first to come out was red, and his whole body was like a hairy garment; so they named him Esau.[d]

26.隨後又生了以掃的兄弟，手抓住以掃的腳跟，因此給他起名叫雅各【就是抓住的意思】。利百加生下兩個兒子的時候，以撒年正六十歲。
After this, his brother came out, with his hand grasping Esau’s heel; so he was named Jacob.[e] Isaac was sixty years old when Rebekah gave birth to them.

以掃賣長子之分
27.兩個孩子漸漸長大，以掃善於打獵，常在田野；雅各為人安靜，常住在帳棚裏。
The boys grew up, and Esau became a skillful hunter, a man of the open country, while Jacob was content to stay at home among the tents.
28.以撒愛以掃，因為常吃他的野味；利百加卻愛雅各。
Isaac, who had a taste for wild game, loved Esau, but Rebekah loved Jacob.
29.有一天，雅各熬湯，以掃從田野回來累昏了。
Once when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the open country, famished.
30.以掃對雅各說：「我累昏了，求你把這紅湯給我喝。」因此以掃又叫以東【就是紅的意思】。
He said to Jacob, 「Quick, let me have some of that red stew! I’m famished!」 (That is why he was also called Edom.[f])

31.雅各說：「你今日把長子的名分賣給我吧。」
Jacob replied, 「First sell me your birthright.」
32.以掃說：「我將要死，這長子的名分於我有甚麼益處呢？」
「Look, I am about to die,」 Esau said. 「What good is the birthright to me?」
33.雅各說：「你今日對我起誓吧。」
But Jacob said, 「Swear to me first.」 So he swore an oath to him, selling his birthright to Jacob.
34.於是雅各將餅和紅豆湯給了以掃，以掃吃了喝了，便起來走了。這就是以掃輕看了他長子的名分。
Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and some lentil stew. He ate and drank, and then got up and left. So Esau despised his birthright. |
