Haven't been to Vegas for years
I am not into gambling and can't handle eating a mountain of buffet food anymore, I have zero interest in Vegas
Since I have to drive past Vegas to get to Grand Canyon north rim, I thought "why not?"
Found a room off the strip because it has 50% off the regular room rate and the user reviews are pretty positive
Never a fan of the big mega casinos on the strip
too many people, too many cars in the parking structure, and too confusing to get in and out of the premise
I like places like Hard Rock, off the strip, 3 stories high, big open space parking lot, and no need to fight traffic on Las Vegas Blvd. at night when cars are cruising
Also found a few cheap but high rated eateries in Vegas to try
they are all off the strip, not inside casino hotels and in more of the "regular" neighborhoods
a Hawaiian poke place
an all you can eat hand roll sushi joint ($27 per person you can order 100s rolls, sushi, grilled items, and deserts!)
a Korean place
a Chinese BBQ place for roasted pork
a breakfast omelet place
And I am going to Cirque du Soleil's Zumanity on Sunday night!!
How can one go to Vegas but not checking out at least one of the shows??
I'll bring my bathing suit to dip in the hotel pool
a cute dress to have a drink at the hotel bar (comes with the spa surcharge so I might as well use it), go to the show, and to have a solo stuff-until-i-am-blue-in-the-face dinner
The food I'd be having in Vegas Thursday on the way to Grand Canyon will be my inspiration when I am laboring to haul my body up to Grand Canyon from Colorado River on Saturday.....
