Jacob Returns to Bethel
第三十五章 Genesis 35
1. 神對雅各說：「起來！上伯特利去，住在那裏；要在那裏築一座壇給 神，就是你逃避你哥哥以掃的時候向你顯現的那位。」
Then God said to Jacob, 「Go up to Bethel and settle there, and build an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you were fleeing from your brother Esau.」
2.雅各就對他家中的人並一切與他同在的人說：「你們要除掉你們中間的外邦神，也要自潔，更換衣裳。
So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, 「Get rid of the foreign gods you have with you, and purify yourselves and change your clothes.
3.我們要起來，上伯特利去，在那裏我要築一座壇給 神，就是在我遭難的日子應允我的禱告、在我行的路上保佑我的那位。」
Then come, let us go up to Bethel, where I will build an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and who has been with me wherever I have I have gone.」
4.他們就把外邦人的神像和他們耳朵上的環子交給雅各；雅各都藏在示劍那裏的橡樹底下。
So they gave Jacob all the foreign gods they had and the rings in their ears, and Jacob buried them under the oak at Shechem.
5.他們便起行前往。 神使那周圍城邑的人都甚驚懼，就不追趕雅各的眾子了。
Then they set out, and the terror of God fell on the towns all around them so that no one pursued them.
6.於是雅各和一切與他同在的人到了迦南地的路斯，就是伯特利。
Jacob and all the people with him came to Luz (that is, Bethel) in the land of Canaan.
7.他在那裏築了一座壇，就給那地方起名叫伊勒．伯特利【就是伯特利之 神的意思】；因為他逃避他哥哥的時候， 神在那裏向他顯現。
There he built an altar, and he called the place El Bethel,[a] because it was there that God revealed himself to him when he was fleeing from his brother.

Now Deborah, Rebekah’s nurse, died and was buried under the oak outside Bethel. So it was named Allon Bakuth.[b]

After Jacob returned from Paddan Aram,[c] God appeared to him again and blessed him.

10.且對他說：「你的名原是雅各，從今以後不要再叫雅各，要叫以色列。」這樣，他就改名叫以色列。
God said to him, 「Your name is Jacob,[d] but you will no longer be called Jacob; your name will be Israel.[e]」 So he named him Israel.

11. 神又對他說：「我是全能的 神；你要生養眾多，將來有一族和多國的民從你而生，又有君王從你而出。
And God said to him, 「I am God Almighty[f], be fruitful and increase in number. A nation and a community of nations will come from you, and kings will be among your descendants.

The land I gave to Abraham and Isaac I also give to you, and I will give this land to your descendants after you.」
13. 神就從那與雅各說話的地方升上去了。
Then God went up from him at the place where he had talked with him.
14.雅各便在那裏立了一根石柱，在柱子上奠酒，澆油。
Jacob set up a stone pillar at the place where God had talked with him, and he poured out a drink offering on it; he also poured oil on it.
15.雅各就在那地方起名叫伯特利。
Jacob called the place where God had talked with him Bethel.[g]

拉結生子而死
The Deaths of Rachel and Isaac
16.他們從伯特利起行，離以法他還有一段路程，拉結臨產甚是艱難。
Then they moved on from Bethel. While they were still some distance from Ephrath, Rachel began to give birth and had great difficulty.
17.正在艱難的時候，收生婆對她說：「不要怕，你又要得一個兒子了。」
And as she was having great difficulty in childbirth, the midwife said to her, 「Don’t despair, for you have another son.」
18.她將近於死，靈魂要走的時候，就給她兒子起名叫便俄尼；他父親卻給他起名叫便雅憫。
As she breathed her last－for she was dying－she named her son Ben-Oni.[h] But his father named him Benjamin.[i]

19.拉結死了，葬在以法他的路旁；以法他就是伯利恆。
So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (this is, Bethlehem).
20.雅各在她的墳上立了一統碑，就是拉結的墓碑，到今日還在。
Over her tomb Jacob set up a pillar, and to this day that pillar marks Rachel’s tomb.
21.以色列起行前往，在以得臺那邊支搭帳棚。
Israel moved on again and pitched his tent beyond Migdal Eder.
22.以色列住在那地的時候，便流去與他父親妾辟拉同寢，以色列也聽見了。雅各共有十二個兒子。
While Israel was living in that region, Reuben went in and slept with his father’s concubine Bilhah, and Israel heard of it. Jacob had twelve sons:
23.利亞所生的是雅各的長子便流，還有西緬、利未、猶大、以薩迦、西布倫。
The sons of Leah: Reuben the firstborn of Jacob, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar and Zebulun.
24.拉結所生的是約瑟、便雅憫。
The sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.
25.拉結的使女辟拉所生的是但、拿弗他利。
The sons of Rachel’s Servant Bilhah: Dan and Naphtali.
26.利亞的使女悉帕所生的是迦得、亞設。這是雅各在巴旦．亞蘭所生的兒子。
The sons of Leah’s servant Zilpah: Gad and Asher. These were the sons of Jacob, who were born to him in Paddan Aram.
27.雅各來到他父親以撒那裏，到了基列．亞巴的幔利，乃是亞伯拉罕和以撒寄居的地方；基列．亞巴就是希伯崙。
Jacob came home to his father Isaac in Mamre, near Kiriath Arba (that is, Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had stayed.
以撒壽終
28.以撒共活了一百八十歲。
Isaac lived a hundred and eighty years.
29.以撒年紀老邁，日子滿足，氣絕而死，歸到他列祖【原文作本民】那裏。他兩個兒子以掃、雅各把他埋葬了。
Then he breathed his last and died and was gathered to his people, old and full of years. And his sons Esau and Jacob buried him. |
