When I was little (first to third grade in elementary school), my parents always brought me with them to their company meetings on the weekends. When they have meetings, I ll just read story books or draw quietly on the side table. People would give me cookies and drinks to keep me happy : D. I remembered sleeping in the back of the car all the time after meetings. My dad would always turn on the A/C really low, and put a jacket on me. Usually by the time we arrive home it will be 11:30 or 12 a.m. They would always say "到家瞜“ and I would wake up and get ready to get off the car. They brought me everywhere with them, and the car seemed like my second bed.
When my mom went to visit my bro and sis and I was left in Taiwan with my dad. Though I have 2 parrots, a green and a blue one to keep accompany. I would be staying at the kindergarten teacher s house until 10:30 or 11:00 p.m. for my dad to pick me up after work. At that time, I stayed at many people s house; my grandma s house, teachers house, secretary s house and eventually move to Taipei and stay at my aunt s house for year. Sometimes I would argue with my cousin and was really sad that I was living under his roof.
At 4th grade, I went to live with my bro and sis. I haven t seen them for three years and felt very distant. I didn t recognize my brother at all. Took me awhile to adjust to the life there.
Now after 20+ years. The situation is so similar again. For almost 6 years, I ve sat at the back of the car, going out with parents. The three of us without my bro and sis in the picture. It feels the same but with them 20+ years older. Deja vu?
