第二章 Exodus 2
1.有一個利未家裡的人娶了一個利未女子為妻。
Now a men of the tribe of Levi married a Levite woman,
2.那女人懷孕,生一個兒子,見他俊美,就藏了他三個月,
and she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. When she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him for three months.
3.後來不能再藏,就取了一個蒲草箱,抹上石漆和石油,將孩子放在裏頭,把箱子擱在河邊的蘆荻中。
But when she could hide him no longer, she got a papyrus basket[a] for him and coated it with tar and pitch. Then she planed the child in it and put it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile.

4.孩子的姊姊遠遠站著,要知道他究竟怎麼樣。
His sister stood at a distance to see what would happen to him.
5.法老的女兒來到河邊洗澡,她的使女們在河邊行走。她看見箱子在蘆荻中,就打發一個婢女拿來。
Then Pharaoh’s daughter went down to the Nile to bathe, and her attendants were walking along the riverbank. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her female slave to get it.
6.她打開箱子,看見那孩子。孩子哭了,她就可憐他,說:「這是希伯來人的一個孩子。」
She opened it and saw the baby. He was crying, and she felt sorry for him. 「This is one of the Hebrew babies,」 she said.
7.孩子的姊姊對法老的女兒說:「我去在希伯來婦人中叫一個奶媽來,為妳奶這孩子,可以不可以?」
Then his sister asked Pharaoh’s daughter, 「Shall I go and get one of the Hebrew women to nurse the baby for you?」
8.法老的女兒說:「可以。」童女就去叫了孩子的母親來。
「Yes, go,」 she answered. So the girl went and got the baby’s mother.
9.法老的女兒對她說:「妳把這孩子抱去,為我奶他,我必給你工價。」婦人就抱了孩子去奶他。
Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, 「Take this baby and nurse him for me, and I will pay you.」 So the woman took the baby and nursed him.
10.孩子漸長,婦人把他帶到法老的女兒那裏,就作了她的兒子。她給孩子起名叫摩西,意思說:「因為我把他從水裏拉出來。」
When the child grew older, she took him to Pharaoh’s daughter and he became her son. She named him Moses,[b] saying, 「I drew him out of the water.」
