雖然外交部將菲律賓南部的民答那峨島（Mindanao）列為旅遊橙色警戒，但其實大堡距離戰亂的地方相當遠，與菲律賓傳統塞車及市區髒亂的印象完全不同，是個相當平靜的城市，加上旅遊條件相當不錯，以當地導遊所說，大堡是「From Island To Highland」，擁有從水玩到山的豐富自然環境，特別是行程中的主力珍珠農場度假村。
大堡位於菲律賓最南端的「民答那峨」島上，是個很大的都市，目前從台灣出發無直飛班機，需由馬尼拉轉機，航程大約2小時。大堡周邊遍佈著6個大小不同島嶼，其中最知名的就是距離大約45分鐘船程的沙茂島（Samal Island）。沙茂島繞島一圈大約要花上1、2個鐘頭，島上景觀非常純樸，早年以盛產養殖珍珠聞名，因此也有著此一珍珠農場度假村。
珍珠農場度假村幾乎就是大堡潛水的代名詞，所有介紹大堡潛水的指南中，大概都以此一度假村的海上木屋作為代表性照片。確實這裡的海上木屋非常優美，白天只要打開房門，面對的就是一整片的碧海藍天，到了傍晚，則是滿滿晚霞與夕陽，到了夜晚，則是無窮無盡的星空，週遭還有海天一色的泳池、戶外SPA、臨海餐廳，以及椰影、沙灘，是非常具代表性的東南亞度假村。
Malipano villas
The Malipano Villas are lavish 3-storey villas situated in
Malipano island, inspired by Maranao & Samal ethnic design.
The roof design is based on the traditional Philippine hat, the “salakot”.
All with a breathtaking view of the Davao Gulf,
the villas are composed of three octagonal structures with reception areas,
guest suites and a dining area, all around a cantilevered deck.
Four of the villas perched on stilts directly above the sea while the other three
villas outcrop from the rocks on the beach.
Malipano Villa (7 Villas)
The Malipano Villas or big houses located at Malipano Island, a secluded island across the resort. There are two types of Villas: five villas have3 bedrooms and two villas have 4 bedrooms.
All villas are air-conditioned, equipped with mini-bar, coffee & tea facilities, safety box (located at the master’s bedroom), cable television, spacious living room and hair dryers. All rooms have individual toilet and bath, with the master bathroom having a bathtub.Butler service is available for food orders and other guests assistance. A standby speedboat is available to transport the guests to the restaurant and other facilities at Pearl Farm.
he villas have a wide veranda where a small barbeque party can be organized for its guests complete with cooks and waiters.
