第二章 Deuteronomy 2
1.「此後，我們轉回，從紅海的路往曠野去，是照耶和華所吩咐我的。我們在西珥山繞行了許多日子。
Then we turned back and set out toward the wilderness along the route to the Red Sea,[a] as the LORD had directed me. For a long time we made our way around the hill country of Seir.

2.耶和華對我說：
Then the LORD said to me,
3.『你們繞行這山的日子夠了，要轉向北去。
「You have made your way around this hill country long enough; now turn north.
4.你吩咐百姓說：你們弟兄以掃的子孫住在西珥，你們要經他們的境界。他們必懼怕你們，所以你們要分外謹慎。
Give the people these orders: 『You are about to pass through the territory of your relatives the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. They will be afraid of you, but be very careful.
5.不可與他們爭戰；他們的地，連腳掌可踏之處，我都不給你們，因我已將西珥山賜給以掃為業。
Do not provoke them to war, for I will not give you any of their land, not even enough to put your foot on. I have given Esau the hill country of Seir as his own.
6.你們要用錢向他們買糧吃，也要用錢向他們買水喝。
You are to pay them in silver for the food you eat and the water you drink.』」
7.因為耶和華你的 神在你手裏所辦的一切事上已賜福與你。你走這大曠野，他都知道了。這四十年，耶和華你的 神常與你同在，故此你一無所缺。』
The LORD your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has watched over your journey through this vast wilderness. These forty years the LORD your God has been with you, and you have not lacked anything.
8.於是，我們離了我們弟兄以掃子孫所住的西珥，從亞拉巴的路，經過以拉他、以旬．迦別，轉向摩押曠野的路去。
So we went on past our relatives the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. We turned from the Arabah road, which comes up from Elath and Ezion Geber, and traveled along the desert road of Moab.
9.耶和華吩咐我說：『不可擾害摩押人，也不可與他們爭戰。他們的地，我不賜給你為業，因我已將亞珥賜給羅得的子孫為業。』
Then the LORD said to me, 「Do not harass the Moabites or provoke them to war, for I will not give you any part of their land. I have given Ar to the descendants of Lot as a possession.」
10.（先前，有以米人住在那裏，民數眾多，身體高大，向亞衲人一樣。
（The Emites used to live there—a people strong and numerous, and as tall as the Anakites.
11.這以米人像亞納人；也算利乏音人；摩押人稱他們為以米人。
Like the Anakites, they too were considered Rephaites, but the Moabites called them Emites.
12.先前，何利人也住在西珥，但以掃的子孫將他們除滅，得了他們的地，接著居住，就如以色列在耶和華賜給他為業之地所行的一樣。）
Horites used to live in Seir, but the descendants of Esau drove them out. They destroyed the Horites from before them and settled in their place, just as Israel did in the land the LORD gave them as their possession.）
13.現在，起來過撒烈溪！於是我們過了撒烈溪。
And the LORD said, 「Now get up and cross the Zered Valley.」 So we crossed the valley.
14.自從離開加低斯．巴尼亞，到過了撒烈溪的時候，共有三十八年，等那世代的兵丁都從營中滅盡，正如耶和華向他們所起的誓。
Thirty-eight years passed from the time we left Kadesh Barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley. By then, that entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the LORD had sworn to them.
15.耶和華的手也攻擊他們，將他們從營中除滅，直到滅盡。
The LORD’s hand was against them until he had completely eliminated them from the camp. |
