1943~44年間由於音樂界的罷工事件,待Earl Hins的莎拉沒錄製任何作品,
不久加入Billy Eckstine自組的樂團後發行了首張專輯,此時的莎拉音樂深受Dizzy與Bird的影響,
於是莎拉成為第一個完全以咆勃語彙演唱的歌手。在與 John Kirby短暫的合作後,
莎拉展開了Solo生涯,40年代末即以It’S Magic、Tenderly……等暢銷曲贏得不少的掌聲
。到了1947年莎拉已是Downbeat雜誌遴選最受歡迎的女歌手,成功也開始向她敲著門,
60年代晚期莎拉重回爵士樂領域, 70、80年代間她與一群爵士樂的好手如
：Oscar Peterson、Herbie Hancock、Ron Carter、Don Cherry……之流合作,
當時錄製的公爵艾靈頓歌曲集是其中較出色的作品。也雖然年華不斷的老去,
她那超寬廣的音域仍然,無論高飆或低吟淺唱仍悠遊自 如；優美的音色與聲音的柔軟度也如同全盛時期,
仍精準的詮釋著歌曲的情境,因此晚期的莎拉雖然少了商業上的巨大成功,卻仍固定巡迴演出與錄音,
也仍吸引著 大量的愛樂者。1982年以現場蓋希文歌曲輯再或葛萊美獎,1989年則榮獲葛萊美終身成就獎的殊榮。
這張精選輯遴選的內容都是莎拉音樂生涯最成熟階段50、60年代錄音的作品
,內容有著莎拉各個時期音樂風格的多樣表現,譬如Bossa Nova的The Boy From Ipanema；
60年代席捲全球Bossa Nova經典曲之一,作曲者是Antonio Carlos Jobim,Norman Gimbel填上英文詞後
,由Astrud Gilberto這位聲音輕柔的女歌手與Stan Getz合作打入美國Top5,成人抒情榜榜首
,也在當年拿下一座葛萊美。此處莎拉將Girl改成Boy,並以渾厚的聲音提供聆者截然不同的音樂感受,
相 同的是那種怡然輕鬆的氛圍
