More and more couples decide to choose their babies’ gender. With the new technology, parents now can select babies’ sex before babies are born. In India, women need a lot of dowries in order to get married. Nowadays some women in India just abort their babies when they find out they are having a girl by the ultrasound. Some guys in India burn their wives if their wives don’t get them enough dowries. (It’s never enough!) In the U.S. traditionally the bride’s family pays for the wedding. I felt lucky that I was born in Taiwan. But I wish I were a man. In Buddhism, only men can become Buddha.
