<Sentimental Conversation >

In the old solitary frozen park
two forms just passed and vanished in the dark.

Their lips were soft and slack, their eyes were dead,
And one could scarcely hear the words they said.

In the old lonely park nipped by the frost,
two specters have called back the past they lost.

--Do you remember our old ecstasies?
--Why would you have me waken those memories?

--When you hear my name does your heart always glow?
Do you always see my soul in dream?-No

--Ah, the good days of joy unspeakable
when our lips mingled!--That is possible.

--How blue the sky was then, and hope beat high!
--But hope fled, vanquished, down the gloomy sky.

Even so they walked though the wild oats, these dead,
And only the night heard the words they said.
