美國太空總署（NASA）科學家23日表示,地球在25年後可能面臨毀滅的危機,因為有一顆叫做「2004MN4」的小行星將會撞上地球,這個地球毀滅的時間點,剛好西洋人最忌諱的日子：13號黑色星期五。
根據NASA的偵測,這顆長319公尺(相當於企業號航空母艦大小),名為「2004MN4」的小行星,可能會在25年後撞上地球。地球和小行星都是繞行太陽公轉,而且兩者的軌道幾乎是在同一平面,科學家據此推測,「2004MN4」行星撞地球的機率大約是1/300,時間點可能會是2029年4月13日,當天正好就是西洋人最忌諱的黑色星期五。
科學家表示,如果真的發生行星撞地球的意外,災情將會相當嚴重,行星落在海上可能引發海嘯,落在地面上也會造成嚴重損害,因為「2004MN4OC」的撞擊威力等於16億噸黃色炸藥。
科學家是在2004年6月首度發現這顆行星,可能會對地球造成威脅,12月再度發現2004MN4的行蹤,雖然目前有關這顆小行星的資訊相當稀少,不過科學家還是有信心,在更明確掌握2004MN4的運行軌道之後,將可以避免發生行星撞地球的悲劇。
