「 Fly me to the moon」這首歌寫於1954年，作者是Bart Howard，首次演唱的歌手是Felicia Sanders，原來歌名並不叫 「 Fly me to the moon 」，而是 「In Other Words」。多年之後這歌以「 Fly me to the moon」之名被唱紅了，從此歌名就固定了。
1954年這首歌都曾經被灌成唱片，原唱者Felicia Sanders直到1959年才將此曲收入她的專輯中。Johnny Mathis的版本第一次把歌名改成「Fly me to the moon」。法蘭克辛納屈 ( Frank Sinatra ) 於1964年在他的專輯「It Might as Well Be Swing」中收錄這首歌。
「Fly me to the moon」是一首膾炙人口的西洋流行歌曲，五十七年來一直受到歡迎，包括Nat King Cole、Doris Day、Judy Garland、Julie London、Ella Fitzgerald、Paul Anka、Tom Jones、Diana Krall等許多成名的偉大歌手都曾經演唱過，保守估計，各種演唱及演奏發行的專輯單曲超過五百個版本以上；亞洲也有許多的知名歌手如Lisa Ono ( 小野麗莎 )、 Utada Hikaru ( 宇多田光 )等也曾多次演唱收錄這首歌曲，去年 ( 2010年)王儷婷Olivia Ong在台灣發行的專輯中也收錄了這首歌曲，他以Bossa Nova的曲風演唱，優雅輕快的感覺頗受好評 。
